   Personality:

Feng is a quiet and reserved person, who gives off a cold, indifferent and distant aura to most people. In truth, she is just a socially awkward person, and is thus really bad at interacting with people in a social situation. As a result, her responses can be tactless and abrasive in nature as she tends to be overly straightforward and blunt during the rare event that she voices her opinions. She is resigned to the fact that she's not really good with people, and thus prefers to keep silent and detached, rather than offend people. She instead focuses on things she is tasked with to keep herself feeling busy and accomplished. She believes that there is a deeper purpose and meaning to her existence, and works hard to push herself closer to fulfilling that purpose.

Feng is also a loner. It's not that she likes being alone in particular, but because she is pessimistic and assumes that she will not get along with people (because she knows she is lacking in people skills), she believes the best thing to do is to distance herself from people and shy away from them. She taught herself to be independent so that she wouldn't have to rely on people or on interacting with people to get by. She is simply used to doing things on her own, though she is not against the thought of working with people. Through her one year in the Agency, she's grown increasingly comfortable with working with people and being with people in general.

   Positive traits:

Hardworking | Honest | Rational | Street-smart | Introspective | Determined | Driven | Decisive | Independent

   Negative traits:

Aloof | Withdrawn | Detached | Self-centred | Workaholic | Stubborn | Socially awkward | Tactless | Abrasive | Pessimistic

   Ability in Use: Wind Manipulation
- Ability to manipulate wind energy into sharp, cutting blades of air
- Able to decrease air resistance around her body to be able to move at high speed when she fights. Also able to jump great heights using wind boosts
- Able to fire projectiles at high speed such as throwing knives by manipulating the wind around the projectiles
- Has picked up the skill of Deoxygenation : the removing of oxygen in the air (to extinguish flames)

(+) Because of her ability to control wind, her attacks are swift, quick, high-speed in nature and thus ideal for disarming and swiping things.
(-) However, her attacks still lack power/strength and are insufficient to deliver critical blows.
(-) Her ability is best utilised in close-range combat, meaning she needs to get up close to the enemy in order to effectively strike them. This works against Feng's small frame as a single hit from an enemy can send her flying or injure her severely. Hence she fights in a way to avoid all hits from an enemy, using her speed to her advantage.
(-) Deoxygenation can currently only take place over a limited area.

   Background:
(long version)
Feng's parents were migrants from China who settled in a suburban state in America before she was born. Born and raised in America, Feng was an only child, and her small stature, withdrawn nature and seemingly aloof demeanour led to her being either ostracised or bullied by her schoolmates. Hence, from a young age, she took to computer games and comics in order to avoid people and their judgemental perceptions of her, withdrawing from social interactions that made her feel awkward. Her parents were always busy with work, and though they were concerned about her daughter, she did academically well and seemed content having her video games and comics as company at home, as opposed to real human friends. They thought it best to leave her as she was.

When she was 16, Feng found out about her powers accidentally when she was escaping from particular persistent classmates at school who wanted to pressure her into helping them do their homework. She suddenly found herself travelling at incredible speed and ended up on the roof of the school building after a wind-boosted jump carried her there.

Deciding that her powers were dangerous but potentially useful, Feng embarked on "secret self-training sessions" to hone her powers and better control them. She believed her powers were given to her for a reason, and that it was her duty to gain control over them, while maintaining secrecy from the world. She further distanced herself from the people around her, fearing that they wouldn't understand, or worse, would be hurt by her. She became even more aloof, and played up her appearance to be that of an intimidating, unapproachable one so that people wouldn't bother what she was up to and wouldn't question her about her secret self-training sessions. That way, she wouldn't have to lie or make up excuses if people were to ever question her. (she's terrible at lying and making excuses)

Initially, Feng's training sessions took place in her own room at home, but with greater control, her powers grew in strength. She soon took her training outdoors and trained at abandoned warehouses in the neighbourhood, working hard to build up her physical stamina in order to keep up with her speed-based powers. (due to so much gaming, she had quick reaction time, but was lacking in physical strength and stamina due to being a shut-in loser) This was when her parents suspected something was going on. Their shut-in daughter was spending longer hours out of the house, and looking healthier by the day. Though they felt this was a good thing, they couldn't help being curious about it. One night over dinner, they asked her point-blank what she had been up to. Not wanting to create complications for herself, Feng told her parents the truth flat-out, expecting them to be accepting of it, or think nothing much of it. After all, they were her parents.

Unfortunately, this new revelation caused her parents much stress and grief. They were worried as to what their relatives and neighbours would think if they ever were to find out, and felt greatly shamed about their daughter's new found "freakishness". They buried themselves further in their work, to avoid coming home and having to deal with their "special" daughter. The family grew estranged and apart over the years. Feng saw it happening, but didn't know how to stop it. She had never been good with people, after all, not even her own family.

So when a letter was mysteriously delivered to her doorstep, inviting her to join an agency where there would be more people like her, Feng wasted no time in researching heavily about it and subsequently decided to accept the invitation. Her parents seemed glad to see her go, and helped her pack her belongings to move to her new home. She would probably fit in better over there, with more of...her kind.

After all, she has never fit in anywhere else.

(summary version)
TL;DR : Feng is a hikikomori, a withdrawn, socially awkward computer game and comic addict because she is awkward around people. She discovers her powers of wind manipulation one day when trying to run away from people (as usual) at school. She decided to hone her skills on her own, believing there to be some deeper purpose behind her gaining these powers, and makes herself appear more intimidating so people won't ask her questions or find out about her powers. She tells her parents the truth point-blank when they ask her why she is no longer a hikikomori but instead of being accepting or feeling proud, they are shamed and their family grows apart. One day a letter arrives at the Huang family doorstep, inviting Feng to join an agency full of people just like her. Feng accepts the invite, and her parents can't wait to send her packing.

   Random Trivia:
- Feng is awkward with physical contact but is in truth, very ticklish.
- Feng constantly wears thick lower lid eyeliner and mascara to give a threatening/intimidating look. She looks much less intimidating without makeup/when she isn't frowning.
- 'Feng' can mean either "wind" (风) or "phoenix" (凤) in Mandarin. For Feng's real name, the Chinese character used means phoenix, but because of the apt pun, she refuses to answer to any name other than "Feng". She doesn't reveal her full name to people except for close friends. (for fear of further shaming her family name)
- Her alias "Nyx" comes from the word "Phoenix", which her name means.
- She can speak English and Mandarin fluently, though English is her first language. She can also converse in Hokkien, as that is her dialect group.
- She can also speak very basic conversational Japanese, something she picked up from an online friend, and from playing games + reading comics. Her Japanese is not as fluent as her English or Mandarin, though.
- She doesn't get offended easily.
- In MMO games, she plays both solo and in a party. Somehow behind the screen, she feels less awkward when interacting with people.
- She doesn't keep up with news and gossip and so she's outdated about social happenings/relationship statuses etc.
- Feng's eyes used to be a typical dark brown (almost black), and her hair used to be jet black, like that of most Chinese people. However, with increased use of her powers, Feng's hair and eyes have been becoming lighter and lighter, and more blue in hue. Her eyes are now purple, and her hair is bluish black. (somehow this doesn't bother her at all, neither does her changing eye colour when she uses her powers)
- Feng enjoys eating korean barbecue. Before Aurum, when she had no friends, she usually ate it alone. .__. (whataloser)
- The bow she wears is a tribute to the late Kres, Agent Somnia. The highlights in her hair are a tribute to the late Lin, Agent Lotus.

updated 20 Jan 2017

:bulletgreen: Naoki [ Soul Cutter ] : Met him whilst training at the gym and had a casual comfortable conversation (in her broken Japanese) with him. Respects him and finds him a strong and very reliable comrade. Has begun training together with him to improve her strength and stamina. Often pressures him into things (e.g. buying lunch for her) without realising it, since he almost readily agrees to it due to his polite, naive personality. Adores his dog, Amaterasu. Respect for the young swordsman has grown even more during the asylum case, when Naoki displayed exceeding bravery and did many self-sacrificial things to protect his comrades and fight alongside them. She sees him as very brave, loyal, reliable and capable.

:bulletorange: Char [ Eris ] : Had a very physical encounter with her in the kitchen and is now BFFs (?) with her. Is torn between being afraid of her touchiness, and grateful for her presence. Feels warm and comfortable around her though she won't admit it. Finds her unpredictability and spontaneity slightly frustrating, and yet refreshing. Is fine with baring her thoughts with her, and touched by how protective she is of her. Trusts her with her life.
:bulletorange: Charles [ Discord ] : Finds Charles very much the same person as Char was, except that he's even stronger and enjoys picking her up and cuddling her even more. /pushes his face away cuz YOU ARE STILL TOO CLOSEEEE. After the forgotten asylum case, however, Feng got to see a different and darker side to Char, but it hasn't changed the way she feels about him. More than ever, she feels like she's beginning to understand him better, that behind that bright facade lies a broken person in need of love, acceptance and understanding as well. She wants to be there for him, very much like how he, too, wants to be there for her. It still baffles her how much the space bear looks out for and cares for her. She is eternally grateful and hopes to do the same for him too.

:bulletorange: Ian [ Psi ] : Runs into him outside of the agency. Is actually long-time gamer buddies and online friends with him but did not find out till meeting him irl. Is amazed and puzzled as to why he would hang out with her, and is in constant war with him regarding smiles and laughter. She won't admit it but she feels comfortable with him, and his smiles are beginning to have a contagious effect on her...He's also the first person in Aurum besides her roommate Dee to see her without make-up, and one of the few in Aurum who knows her ticklish secret. She actually cares a lot for him and about him, and treasures him deeply. Is capable of easily and readily keeping up a telepathic conversation with him due to much practise. Lately, the telepathic agent has been rather protective of her due to recent events.

:bulletyellow: Dahlia [ Dee ] : Suite-mate! Finds her warm, motherly and amusing. Enjoys her company when they are reading/gaming quietly together. Feels somewhat indebted to her for keeping their suite so tidy, well-organised and clean. Intrigued with her ability and is also fond of her ghost cat, Fifi. Being with her feels just like family, because Dee takes such good care of her, and cares so much about her... She is infinitely relieved to see that her beloved suitemate has made up with her bestie, Char. She is also slowly warming up to and getting used to Alejandro being in her suite to see Dee, and getting used to him being around in general.

:bulletgreen: Mat [ Victim ] : Has a very eventful first encounter with him that involved an epic chase and awkward confrontation. Finds his power "cooler and more powerful than Rogue". Resolves to be his training partner to get him into better fighting shape and control his powers better. Is the third person to find out her ticklish secret. They have hilarious dynamics and are constantly trolling and sassing each other.

:bulletblue: Yuri [ Everest ] : Goes on her first major case with Char and Yuri. Finds his height pretty amazing, and respects him as a fellow agent. Also, she actually finds his puns punny funny. He came to talk to her after their round of cases, where they shared their thoughts about their losses...

:bulletyellow: Lin [ Lotus ] : Meets her in the laundry room coincidentally. Finds her warm, smart, kind, sweet, insightful and pleasant company to hang out with. Made a promise to hang out more with her. They are currently collaborating on a plan to get Ian to be less lazy... Sentimentally keeps the sunflower she gave her at her desk for keepsakes. Considers her one of her closest friends at IAS after the final battle, and treasures their friendship deeply. Lin is a voice of wisdom and encouragement to her, and guides her when she's not sure about herself/what to do.

:bulletorange: Darin [ Slinky ] : Met her on a Chapter III Event. Found her strange...in a good way. Secretly sees her as Mr. Fantastic / Luffy and looks up to her. Finds her warm and easy to get along with, and finds her eccentricities...entertaining. She feels Darin has seen the world from a much more unsheltered perspective than she has (believes Darin knows things). She might have strange habits and strange ways of doing things but they're entertaining nonetheless. She also has good intentions....most of the time. A paddle board adventure had the two talking about surprisingly personal and deep topics... After nearly losing the bendy agent during a rough struggle in the forgotten asylum case, Feng has grown to realise that Darin is one of the people she has grown so close to, that she cannot envision ever losing or being without. The elastigirl has grown into someone that Feng can safely call one of her closest, bestest friends that she trusts deeply with her life.

:bulletblue: Kasper [ Sernik ] : Met him on a Chapter III Event. Finds him an extremely reliable guy and respects + looks up to him a lot, kinda like a senpai. They're fellow Elementalists. haha.

:bulletpurple: Stephanie [ Alice ] : Stumbled upon her sketching whilst taking a walk in a Japanese-styled garden for a breath of fresh air. Cannot get over how she resembles Alice from Alice In Wonderland so much. Finds her pretty, elegant and talented.

:bulletgreen: Kres [ Somnia ] : Ran into her while exploring the village in Japan for more clues. Respects her as a senpai especially due to their difference in ranks. Has heard many nice things about her from Char and has a good impression of her. Had even more respect for her after being rescued by her during the Monthly Trial. Finds her warm, caring, attentive, and a really nice person. It's also nice to be able to talk to someone at eye level, for once.

:bulletgreen: Roi [ Lyre ] : Met him on an impromptu snowball fight and pillow fight. Although she sees him as a senpai, he is also an adorable cutie-pie puppy to her. Finds him energetic, cheerful, naiive, but a generally good boy. Like him, she is pretty competitive and they have a friendly rivalry going on whenever they play games.

:bulletyellow: Eon [ Primus ] : /worships. (Saved her and Ian's life back in Japan. Looks up infinitely to him and is secretly glad they both have bangs) Is beginning to get to know him and see another side of him, which intrigues her greatly. Still picking up tips on how to be more like a noble prince when she is with him. His promise to take her with him and Char on a joyride on his bike has her excited and eager for it. But now, after the asylum case, Feng wants nothing more than for her precious Grand Master to make a full and speedy recovery before anything else. He doted on her lots in the asylum, and she mega respects and loves how he cares so much for his agents and fights so hard to protect them. She has promised there and then to follow him till the very end, and intends to keep that promise. She cares deeply for him and trusts him with all her heart and soul, almost like a blind sort of faith, and has a somewhat soft spot for him, just as he has for her.

:bulletgreen: Rais [ Secundus ] : Great respect for him because he is really physically strong (and she wants to be...really physically strong). Looks up to him a lot a lot a lot as a superior and wants to grow to be like him but has also seen a strange other side of him when he is with Eon/Darin. During the asylum case, Rais rose to be a great leader (second-in-command to take over the unconscious Eon) and she saw how he led the agents and grew to deeply respect him for it. She has also grown to know how big a heart Rais has for the people around him, selflessly caring about his comrades and subordinates and placing others' needs before his own. She no longer feels intimidated in the "omg he's so big and strong and scary" way, but finds herself wanting to strive to become more like him. He's no longer an unreachable figure on a pedestal, he's a fellow human being she wants to emulate. He might not be a man of many words, but he gives his all through the things he does.

:bulletgreen: Calvin [ Tertius ] : Sincerely believes that he is a mahou shoujo. His sparkles are distracting really charming. Other than that, she respects him greatly for he has proven to be a smart, capable and quick-thinking Master Agent. She believes there is another deeper aspect to him than the flamboyant side that he chooses to show to the agents... This asylum case was the perfect proof for that. Calvin once again displayed expert prowess in using his ability, as well as tanked protecting his agents, getting hurt A LOT along the way, and although he was complaining on the surface, he never shirked from his responsibility or his duty, still putting his mission and subordinates before the needs of his own (which means A LOT coming from this vain man). Moreover, him telling Feng that he trusted and believed in her, made her feel overcome with a sense of duty and fondness for the man, even if she might not admit it.

:bulletgreen: Iyas [ Quartus ] : Iyas helped Feng out so much during the asylum case, and it's the first time she really got to interact with and talk to him whilst on a mission. She deeply respects the doctor's expertise, resourcefulness, knowledge, and his helpfulness towards all the agents. If not for his help, she and many other agents would probably have bled out before they even made it to the exit. Iyas words are kind, comforting, and soothing to her, and she finds it strangely endearing how he has a sort of fatherly aura over most of the agents. It's probably the age difference, isn't it.

:bulletgreen: Sena [ Quintus ] : Looks up to her a lot because, come on, which gamer WOULDN'T have wished for powers like her at least once in their lives? XD Her habit of taking pictures of Feng, however, causes the smaller Agent to dive-roll upon spotting her. She has since warmed up a little more to the energetic Korean master, after having roomed with her and travelled with her during the Chapter VI camping trip.

:bulletblue: Jon [ Little Red ] : Clicked with him almost instantly because of their mutual friends, as well as their common love for weeb things comics, anime, and games. Enjoys playing with his ears and tail and finds it comfortable hanging out with him because of their shared awkwardness.

:bulletpurple: Izzy [ Emet ] : Bumped into her whilst clothes shopping~ Finds her company extremely pleasant, and her easy to get along with. She promised Izzy that she would lend her some games, those that she is done with, so that Izzy won't have to spend money on them.

:bulletorange: August [ Ifrit ] : Got to know him since his first day at the Agency through a chance encounter that involved her constantly extinguishing the small flames on him when he kept accidentally setting his clothes on fire. Finds his company, smiles, laughter and disposition warm and surprisingly comforting. He reminds her of a (rather talkative) puppy. He's able to make her feel at ease, and even comfortable enough to smile and laugh sometimes. He's been there for her through really tough times, and has been a pillar of support, strength and comfort for her ever since. Throughout the asylum case she’s gotten to know a more vulnerable, flawed and human side to him, a side beyond his usual sunshine-y demeanour, and she’s starting to realise that maybe, they aren’t so different and so far away from each other as she had thought after all. At one point towards the end of the asylum case, Feng had the impression that August had died when she saw his unconscious and cold, lifeless body, and realises that August, too, has become someone that she cannot see herself coming to terms with losing or being without. She doesn't think it necessary that he's always looking out for her, but she really appreciates it. She cares for and trusts him deeply.

:bulletgreen: Eilidh [ Ifrita ] : The two tiny girls click pretty naturally and easily due to their straightforward natures, and Feng enjoys talking to Eilidh and feels encouraged and motivated by her strong, supportive personality. She looks up to Eilidh and sees here as a reliable ally and friend.

:bulletpurple: Nicolae [ Tank ] : Deep respect, because he's young, but really smart and talented. Addresses him as 'Prodigy'. Is worried about his state of mind post-asylum case, but is very grateful for him plucking the courage to sedate Aodhan when he was stabbing her. The prodigy is slowly growing up...

:bulletpurple: Aiah [ Hummingbird ] : Doesn't quite know what to think of Aiah after the asylum case, since the hummingbird signed up for it, but constantly complained and protested about going home throughout the entire mission, which baffled Feng, along with several other oddities displayed here and there. Feng is especially baffled by her disrespecting the Master Agents, and finds it strange why Aiah chose to join an agency such as IAS if she hates authority so much. She later attributed some of Aiah's behaviour to the likelihood that she was possessed (even though she was not). Is even more confused by Aiah's apparent gripe with Eon and Rais, who she respects deeply and is very fond of. She is careful around the hummingbird and remains quiet for her bestie Darin's sake. Still thinks her ability is super cool, though.

:bulletpurple: Alana [ Jule ] : Looks out for Alana due to her physical handicap, despite Alana being able to move around adequately with the use of her ability. The time in the asylum proved to be trying for the blind girl as their suppressed powers had Feng entrusting Alana to reliable people, or looking after Alana herself. While her impression of Alana before the asylum case was that of an elegant, cheerful, friendly girl, the Alana Feng saw in the asylum was someone quite....different. She chooses to allude this to the influence of the asylum, though, but is now a little more cautious of stepping on Agent Jule's toes than before...

:bulletblack: Ragni [ Savha ] : Has a soft spot for her since she knew Lin, who Feng was close to previously. Looks out for her whenever she's around her. However, recent interactions have made Feng doubt her place in Ragni's heart, and she chooses to keep a distance from her so that she can avoid conflict with her. She seemed like a reliable sort of comrade during the asylum case, though certain actions the sharpshooting agent pulled, made Feng even more confused as to what to think of her... She's probably avoiding her to avoid conflict.

:bulletpurple: Aya [ Sabre ] : Got to know her via playing several games with her and just chatting during the vacation. She seems like a nice, naive, innocent type of person. Doesn't quite feel 100% comfortable around her yet, but she gets a pleasant vibe from her. She appears to be a reliable ally to Feng.

:bulletblue: Aodhan [ Songbird ] : Pleasantly acquainted with Aodhan after having a chat with him and Roi at the Atrium. Finds his ability intriguing, and shares a common passion of Free-Running with him. She offered to lend him her games to try out, to see if he'd like them. They seem to get along pretty easily, to her surprise. At the asylum, Aodhan displayed a propensity to care for the comrades around him, and Feng was especially grateful for him looking after Alana during the case. She understands that he was possessed when he stabbed her, and retrieved his switchblade to return it to him once they were back home.

:bulletblack: Daisetsu [ Shugenja ] : She first met him at the Chapter IV party. It was not a good impression. He seems to dislike her, but she has no idea why. He showed a completely different side to him during a meal gathering where he was kind and nice to her instead, which baffles Feng greatly. She is keeping wary and cautious of him.

:bulletgreen: Keitarou [ Slushie ] : Has nothing but good vibes from this pleasant boy. They worked together for the Monthly Challenge in October, and she is intrigued by his constant enthusiasm and honest questions. He seems to be learning about the world and she is more than happy to help him with that, starting with...the obvious language barrier. In the asylum case, Keitarou proved to be a reliable ally, always doing his best, despite being a Trainee and thus less experienced as well as being afraid of and unnerved by the things he encountered there. Her respect for him has climbed considerably, and she trusts him even more now, especially after seeing Darin interact with him. Kei is a reliable friend that Feng will definitely look out for whenever they are on cases.

:bulletblack: Nessa [ Tera ] : Initially had a rosy and wonderful impression of her, but recent events have led her to think that the earth manipulator does not quite like being around her....

:bulletblack: Lynn [ The Doctor ] : Despite Feng's many attempts to try to talk and get to know her fellow Chinese agent, Feng finds it extremely difficult to hold a conversation with her, as the healer seems hardly interested in even talking to her past the usual greetings and formalities. She is convinced that somehow Lynn does not like talking to her, or even like her for that matter...
